Orygen is a youth mental health organisation that is the world’s leading research and knowledge translation organisation focusing on mental ill-health in young people.
Youth psychology research is important because it helps us identify the risk factors and develop early interventions for mental health issues like depression. By understanding the unique challenges young people face, we can provide better care and support.
The goal of our research study is to determine why young people might be more likely to experience depression again and again. By identifying those at higher risk, we can provide timely and effective interventions to improve their quality of life.
You don’t have to participate if you don’t want to. Taking part is up to you! Your decision won’t affect anything with your headspace clinician or the research team at Orygen, or headspace, or Orygen. if you don’t take part, your engagement with headspace will continue as normal.
Yes! You are paid $30 per hour for completing the online surveys and any additional assessments for depression and anxiety. Reimbursement is also provided for completing optional parts of the study, like providing a saliva sample or using the daily survey app. You could earn up to $260 if you complete all parts of the study.
We will be able to share our study results once the entire study is completed. You may finish your questionnaires before this time. Unfortunately, we are unable to share any individual answers or results throughout or after the study. If you have any concerns please contact us at contact@identifyd.org.au.
We understand some questionnaires may be distressing to you and you will have the opportunity to tick a box to request we contact you throughout the survey.
IDENTIFYD is a research study and while your wellbeing is the upmost importance to us your supports, local headspace or clinician should be your first point of contact if distressed.

IDENTIFYD processes your payments at every 6-month interval. You should receive an email from us when we process your payments. If your payments are not received within 2 weeks please contact us at contact@identifyd.org.au.
Sure! There is no pressure to continue if you don’t want to anymore. We appreciate all answers provided. Just email us at at contact@identifyd.org.au letting us know and we can stop the questionnaires being sent to you. We understand life can get busy so feel free to let us know if you want to completely stop or just stop for a specific period of time.
Although we would love to meet you in person! IDENTIFYD is an online study and we do not have a physical space. We understand the questionnaires may take some time, if you need a break or want to come back to the questionnaire just press the Save & Return Later button at the end of the questionnaire to pick up exactly where you left off.
Some participants may be randomly selected to complete an additional questionnaire we can do via video call instead of phone if you prefer.

Your data is kept confidential and is only accessible to authorised members of the research team. All data is stored securely and used for research purposes only. Your personal details will not be linked to any published results, and we comply with all data protection laws.
The study consists of several questionnaires and assessments that you can complete at your own pace. Each part of the study varies in length, but on average, it will take around 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete a questionnaire. The overall study may take several months depending on how many parts you choose to complete.
Yes, you can withdraw your consent at any time without giving a reason. If you choose to withdraw, we will stop collecting data from you immediately. However, any data you’ve already provided may still be used in the study. To withdraw, please email us at contact@identifyd.org.au.
No. All information you provide is confidential and will not be shared with any third parties outside of the research team. your personal information will be anonymised and only used for research purposes. We take privacy seriously and ensure that your data is protected.
