Hey everyone!

Welcome to IDENTIFYD’s very first blog post.

The IDENTIFYD team and I are super excited to share some big news: Today marks the launch of the study! We are so excited to work with around 3000 young people across 3 years to achieve some really cool research.

If you haven’t heard much about the study yet, we are working on developing a tool to predict the risk of depression returning or becoming long term, based on clinical, cognitive, psychosocial and genetic factors. We think this is really important research because of how depression, especially chronic depression, affects so many young people in Australia.

If you take part, not only will you be guided by our very friendly team and be reimbursed for your time on the study, you’ll also be contributing to research that will impact many people’s lives (and you may get the chance to win an Ipad and some gift cards along the way!).

You can learn more about what’s involved in the study, including some optional components on our home page through the videos. We highly recommend watching these, as they explain the process of the study and your involvement really well.

Our awesome team on the IDENTIFYD study includes three Research Assistants, Andres, Beth and Eliza (me!), our Project Manager Derek, our Clinical Psychologist Connie, a Research Fellow Scott, and the head of our ship, our Principal Investigator Lianne. We are all really looking forward to working with all our participants on this study, and every team member is super friendly and approachable, so always feel free to get in contact with us if you have any questions. We can be contacted at identifyd@orygen.org.au.

Like I mentioned a little earlier, the study is going to take place for 3 years. Each participant will be involved for around 18 months, with a few surveys here and there that you will be reimbursed for, as well as some optional components, like a saliva sample, quick daily surveys and access to some information about your health. You could earn up to $260 if you complete all parts of the study, as well as go into the running to win one of three Ipads, and three of nine $100 gift cards!

If any of this sounds interesting, or the opportunity to be a part of this really amazing research is resonating with you, go to the home page of our website at www.identifyd.org.au and click the button on the side or the bottom of the page to see if you’re eligible to participate!

We look forward to working with so many of you, and again, if you have any questions at all or need some more information about the study, get in contact with us at identifyd@orygen.org.au.

Talk to you all soon!
