Thank you for agreeing to provide a saliva sample for the IDENTIFYD study – your support is greatly appreciated.  We have sent you a pack that includes the materials you need to provide your saliva sample.  The pack you receive should consist of the following:

  • Australia Post pre-paid envelope – free postage to return the sample to UQ laboratory
  • Isohelix Saliva collection kit, and purple instructions, packed in a hard plastic clamshell case
  • Specimen carrier bag containing a sheet of absorbent material
  • Sample Collection Form – return the completed form with the sample

To collect the sample please follow these steps:

  1. Wait 60 minutes after eating, drinking, smoking, vaping, chewing gum, brushing your teeth or snacking
  2. Collect the saliva according to the enclosed instructions and/or by following along with the second instructional video on the IDENTIFYD website at www.identifyd.org.au
  3. Record the date and time of the collection on the form provided. Please return the sample as soon as you’re able after the collection is completed. Please dispose of the plastic case and funnel after you’ve collected the sample.
  4. Place the tube containing your saliva sample in the click-seal bag and seal. Please leave the white absorbent material in the bag with the tube.
  1. Place the sealed bag containing your saliva sample in the envelope along with the sample collection form and seal. Sign the Aviation Security and Dangerous Goods Declaration
  2. Post the pre-paid envelope in any Australia Post mailbox
  3. Phone, text or email the research team to let them know you have posted back your samples. A simple message would suffice, including your first and last name.
